Majlis Speaker Mohamed Nasheed has said that it was his wish that the presidential elections not be held in 2023.
Speaker Nasheed made this statement on a the “Ask Speaker” session held on Clubhouse in response to a question posed by an attendee asking if a “special formula” for winning the 2023 elections had been found.
In response, Speaker Nasheed had said that he wished for a solid democratic system in the Maldives, that the peoples’ essential needs are secure, and that a fair judiciary matures in the nation.
He also said that he wished for the people’s income to increase, for the unemployed to get jobs, a solution for the housing issue, for more opportunities for educating the young, and for healthcare.
He said that he wished for the Maldives’ governing system to be solid, and he therefore wished that a presidential election not be held in 2023.
