MP Saeed Compares the Current Parliament To North Korean Dictatorship

MP Mohamed Saeed (Maavah), the Vice President of the opposition People's National Congress, stated that the Citizens' Majlis was being run like a system from North Korea.
MP Saeed made this statement after he was denied the opportunity to speak regarding the motion submitted by the government regarding the printing of money.
The presiding Deputy Speaker, MP Eva Abdulla (Galolhu North), did not grant MP Saeed an opportunity to speak citing that he had requested for an opportunity far too late. He mentioned that he had not received an opportunity during a point of order that had arisen during the course of the debate. In response, the Deputy Speaker said that he had been denied the opportunity as he had arrived to the Majlis late.
In response, MP Saeed said that the Maldivian Citizens' Majlis was being run like a system from North Korea.
"This is a Maldivian financial issue. I should have the opportunity to speak on this issue. The opportunity to speak should not be decided like its done under North Korea's dictatorship", said MP Saeed.
The Majlis presidency has made decisions in the past that have hindered or blocked opposition MPs from speaking or getting answers to questions from government Ministers summoned to the Majlis.
