The State has proposed a total of MVR 203 million in travel expenses for next year’s budget.
The proposed travel expenses comprise 0.5% of the total budget submitted by the Ministry of Finance to the Majlis today. MVR 202.9 million had been budget for travel expenses in the 2020 budget.
46.5% of the MVR 203 million has been set aside for domestic sea-travel. 44.4% for domestic air-travel, and 63.7% for international travel.
The Yameen administration had, in 2018, budgeted MVR 135 million for travel. Next year’s travel budget exceeds that of 2018 by MVR 68 million.
The State had spent MVR 40.3 million on international travel in 2018. Next year’s proposed budget exceeds that by almost MVR 20 million.
