President Solih Invites Foreign Minister Shahid to Visit Maldives

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has met with the President of the General Assembly (PGA) and Foreign Minister of the Maldives Abdulla Shahid and invited the PGA to visit the Maldives in his capacity as PGA.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih Sunday arrived in New York City to participate in the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). The President was accompanied on this trip by First Lady Fazna Ahmed and a high-level Maldivian delegation. The President was received by the President of the General Assembly, Abdulla Shahid, and Ms. Thilmeeza Hussain, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Maldives to the United Nations at John F Kennedy Airport.
The president will be delivering an address at the 76th session of the UNGA, he was received by Abdulla Shahid in New York and Shahid has hosted a special dinner in honor of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
President Solih congratulated the PGA on his election and wished him success in achieving the Five Rays of Hope (list) that defines the PGA’s term. The PGA thanked the President for the confidence placed in him throughout the PGA campaign and ensuing election.
Ending the call, President Solih extended an invitation to PGA Shahid to visit the Maldives at an early date in his capacity as PGA.
Although as the President of the General Assembly Shahid will be residing in New York for a year he will be continuing his work as the Foreign Minister of Maldives.
