Opposition respond to warning against Prez Yameen

The opposing Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) responded to the threat issued by the Maldives Correctional Services against Former President and Opposition Party Leader Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
Corrections Facility threatened of possible action against the former president due to the demonstration which was held on Friday by the Opposing Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and Peoples' National Congress (PNC) held a nationwide demonstration on Friday evening 'Seeking Justice'. The crowd gathered outside Yameen's residence in capital Male.
Correction stated that they would be taking action against Yameen For violating the terms of house arrest because he had stood by an open window on the second floor of his home, and waved to his supporters. He also waved the national flag and PPM's flag from his window. President Yameen was transferred to house arrest from Maafushi prison after a breakout of Covid-19 in the prison.
Commissioner of Prisons, Ahmed Mohamed Fulhu tweeted after the demonstration that Yameen's participation in the demonstrations violated the terms of his house arrest by taking part in the demonstrations. And he declared that his actions would be further investigated and due action would be taken against the former president.
In a statement released by the opposing party, the party stated that President Yameen had not violated the terms of transfer to his house and had only acted within the parameters of the conditions of transfer to house arrest. And the party claimed further that there is no agreement between President Yameen and the state that prohibited him from doing what he did yesterday.
The Opposition Coalition expressed concern over the threat which was issued by the Maldivian correctional services. The coalition further state that the government was trying to punish president Yameen due to the public distrust in the government. The statement implored the government to halt its attempts at punishing the former president.
