Yameen did not violate the terms of house arrest : Lawyers

The lawyers of Former President and Opposition leader Yameen Abdul Gayoom stated that he had not violated any of the terms of his house arrest.
Yameen was found guilty of a money laundering and was convicted by the Criminal Court on November 28, 2019. He was sentenced to 5 years in prison. He had spent more than 500 days in jail before he was transferred to house arrest last Ramadan after a breakout of covid-19 in Maafushi prison.
Corrections Facility stated that they would be taking action against Yameen For violating the terms of house arrest because he had stood by an open window on the second floor of his home, and waved to his supporters. He also waved the national flag and PPM's flag from his window. Opposing Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and Peoples' National Congress (PNC) held a nationwide demonstration on Friday evening 'Seeking Justice'. The crowd gathered outside Yameen's residence in capital Male'.
Commissioner of Prisons, Ahmed Mohamed Fulhu tweeted after the demonstration that President Yameen's actions violated the terms of his house arrest. He further stated that the matter would be further investigated, and action will be taken against Yameen.
Former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb when in house arrest in similar circumstances had formed a political party and singed as the first member of the newly formed party. However, authorities issues no such warnings against him and no action was taken regarding his actions.
