Mohamed Asif has been appointed to the vacancy at the Elections Commission (EC), and Ahmed Ahid Rasheed has been appointed as Information Commissioner.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih today presented Asif’s letter of appointment at the President’s Office. Before he was given his letter of appointment, Asif to the oath as required of all EC members in the presence of President Solih. The oath was administered by Supreme Court Judge Mohamed Ibrahim.
Asif has previously served the EC as the Deputy Director-General and Assistant Director-General. Parliament approved Asif’s appointment to the position last Monday, with a vote of 50 members.
Ahid was also presented his letter of appointment by President Solih. Ahid was most recently the Governance Manager at Transparency Maldives. He graduated from the Staffordshire University in the United Kingdom with a Bachelor of Laws with Honors.
Parliament also approved Ahid’s appointment last Monday.
