Afcons Infrastructure, the company assigned to construct the Thilamale' Bridge connecting Male', Villimale', Gulhifalhu, and Thilafushi, is seeking a geotechnical manager for the project.
The company's announcement read that it urgently requires a geotechnical manager for the Thilamale' Bridge project in the Maldives. The company also listed the candidates' requirements; 15 to 24 years of experience, experience in marine geotechnical investigation, piling activity at sea, and deep excavation analysis.
Applicants are also required to have a degree in technical and civil engineering.
Afcons was officially assigned the project on August 26, 2021. The company must finish the project within 36 months. However, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated that he does not believe the project will be complete by the end of his tenure. He claimed that the bridge will be opened in sections as development progresses. It is worth noting that the bridge cannot be opened in this way.
Although Afcons has been assigned the project, the company has never built a sea bridge. While the whole project is expected to total USD 500 million, USD 400 million will be provided through a loan from India's EXIM Bank. The government has stated that the remaining USD 100 million is free aid.
