Ali Waheed Arrested as Visa Expired

Dhiyares has been informed that former Tourism Ali Waheed on Wednesday has been arrested while in London as his visa has expired.

Ali Waheed arrived in the UK on February 11, 2021. A Maldivian tourist visa is valid for six months in the UK. Although his visa expired long before, he had not been arrested. However, a source has confirmed that Ali Waheed was suddenly arrested on Wednesday as the Maldivian government reported the former minister.

The Maldivian government and the UK police have yet to officially announce his arrest.

Ali Waheed was arrested around 4 pm Maldivian time, while he was scheduled to hold a press conference.
