Talks of Pres. Yameen Not Allowed to Partake in 2023 Elections Are Attempts to Influence Court Case: Dr. Jameel

Former Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed has stated that talks of former President Yameen Abdul Gayoom's name not being on the 2023 presidential elections vote slip is an attempt to influence his ongoing court case.
On a SanguTV program, former Home Minister Umar Naseer recently announced that he will be a 2023 presidential candidate, and that President Yameen's name will not be on the voting slip.
Regarding several politicians' claims that President Yameen will not be able to partake in the elections, Dr. Jameel tweeted that the government and President Yameen's competition's talks are direct attempts to influence his ongoing Supreme Court appeal.
When President Yameen appealed the Criminal Court's five-year prison sentence in the High Court, the High Court judge ruled in favor of the sentence. The matter is now appealed in Supreme Court, and the court has scheduled two hearings to be held in September.
Dr. Jameel, head of President Yameen's legal team, tweeted that the attempts to influence the case are concerning. He believes that any just court would acquit the former president of all charges.
