The government has effectively lost its legitimacy: Dr.Jameel

Former Vice President, Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed asserted that the current administration has successfully lost its legitimacy to govern.
Dr. Jameel stated in a tweet that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s speech at the event held in celebration of the Day Maldives Embraced Islam clarified three things; his refusal of adhering to the Article 115 in upholding the Constirution, his failure to follow Article 251 in not giving in to international entities and his failure of sustaining his inaugural vows.
Dr. Jameel stated that President Solih’s administration has officially forfeited their legitimacy to govern.
Dr. Jameel stated in another tweet that the president lied in his address and spoke imprudently.
Questioning whether Maldives’ Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) was given up under mutual agreement, Dr. Jameel stated that the president is agreeing to trading off the country’’s sovereignty and has inspired “blood-boiling rage with possibility tof politicide” among the people. He said that this was the biggest crime deserving of a punishment of the same stature.
Addressing the attendees at the ceremony held to commemorate the day Maldives Embraced Islam, last night, President Solih stated that the Maldives was not working with or against a cerain country in relation to the Chagos Islands issue. He said that since it was an ongoing case at an international tribunal, the Maldives is prioritizing its own diplomatic affairs.
Additionally, President Solih assured that the government has never taken and will never take a decision, even in a matter of foreign policy, that will affect the sovereignty of the country.
President Solih stated that Article 3 of the constitution clearly states the Maldivian territory and that the Maritime Zones of Maldives Act has clearly laid out the procedure following any maritime border conflicts.
