Not Investigating Leak of Pres. Yameen's Statement to Police: PGO

The Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) has revealed that it is not investigating how former President Yameen Abdul Gayoom's statement regarding bribery charges in the Fuhgiri case was leaked.
When asked whether the PGO will conduct an internal investigation into the leak, the PGO's Public Prosecutor Ahmed Shafeeu claimed "there is no such thing", but police will be spoken to. Dhiyares inquired whether the talk with police will be official, the Public Prosecutor stated that it will be an unofficial discussion.
Shafeeu initially made a false claim regarding the leak. Shafeeu stated that Prosecutor General Hussain Shameem has not even received President Yameen's statement. Once Dhiyares highlighted that PG Shameem can access the statement on the PGO's systems, Shafeeu acknowledged that the PG can indeed view the statement. However, he reiterated that PG Shameem has not been handed the statement directly.
A source has informed Dhiyares that the statement was leaked to the media by PG Shameem.
