Male’ City Mayor and Vice President of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that due to the nation’s current situation, now is the time to put political ideologies aside and think about saving the nation.
Speaking at the launching ceremony of the opposition coalition’s “Maldivians in Defense of Independence” campaign on Friday night, Dr. Muizzu stated that from a quick glance at the nation’s current state, it is evident that Maldivians have lost the power to make decisions for matters involving the Maldives.
He noted that there will be much regret if no action is taken against the government’s many actions compromising the country’s independence under the guise of projects.
Dr. Muizzu claimed that independence must be prioritized if one loves the nation and that current events within the country must be acknowledged.
He claimed that the campaign initiated by PPM is an effort to save the nation and that it is a national duty for political leaders, political parties, and members of the public to join the movement.
