Mayor of Addu City Ali Nizar has criticized GK Developments, the Indian company assigned to develop the roads of Addu City.
During a program on Raajje TV, he claimed that the company is inappropriate, revealing that it has reached a point where the company needs to be chased, not a day when the company does not need to be called.
“We have to run after them to get work done. If the roads were being constructed according to plan, four, five roads in Hithadhoo would now be finished, and resurfacing of Maradhoo and Feydhoo’s Rahdhebai Magu”, said Nizar.
Nizar further stated that work is not being done according to schedule and that the council will soon reveal its decision regarding the matter.
“It has been nearly two years since the work was assigned. However, it is still not progressing”.
The mayor revealed the company accredited the slow progression to COVID-19, but it is no longer believable. The council has decided to use its resources to complete the roads, said Nizar.
