The Ministry of National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure has canceled the bidding processes for water and sewerage projects in seven islands.
The Ministry of Finance announced the bidding process for the projects upon the request of the Planning Ministry amidst the local council elections in February 2021.
The bids were to be presented by the end of March.
The ministry has announced the cancellation of the processes. The bidding processes cancelled include projects to establish water and sewerage systems in Fehendhoo, Baa Atoll, Fulhadhoo, Baa Atoll, Noomaraa, Shaviyani Atoll, Bilehfahi, Shaviyani Atoll, Nilandhoo, Noonu Atoll, Kihaadhoo, Baa Atoll, Dhonfanu, Baa Atoll.
The ministry has not revealed the reason for canceling the processes for the projects.
The government has been announcing and assigning numerous development projects funded by foreign aid and the budget of the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM). Most projects are conducted with loans from India.
