I Requested President Solih for a Contribution towards Medical Bills: Nasheed

Former President and incumbent Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed divulged he requested President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih for a government contribution towards his treatment abroad for injuries sustained in the May 6 attack.
During the "Ask Speaker" program initiated by Nasheed after his appointment as Parliament Speaker, he stated that so far, he has received support from the Maldivian government, the governments of Germany and the United Kingdom, Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Shahid, and Ministry of Defense.
Former President Nasheed on Monday night revealed that despite the government's support, he has requested President Solih and the Ministry of Finance for state aid regarding medical expenses.
"I have requested the President and the Finance Ministry for government aid. However, I hope to pay all my expenses with what I have. I also hope that my family will help bear my expenses. Hopefully, I will not always have to rely on the government", said Nasheed.
Speaker Nasheed commended the efforts of the doctors of ADK Hospital, who initially treated him following the attack. He claimed the doctors in Germany were amazed by the treatment from the doctors in Maldives.
"I was brought here [Germany] by the German government. The governments of Maldives and Germany, and my family wanted me to travel to Germany. I repeatedly stated 'let me be'. But I'm glad they brought me to Germany. German doctors were amazed by the treatment I received from ADK. The excellent treatment I received from Maldives. Without a doubt, I am still on this Earth only by the grace of Allah. Without the treatment from ADK, I would not be here speaking with you all".
"Even the sutures are very neat. I am almost fully healed. We don't have to make a fuss and go here and there for medical treatment", said Nasheed, praising the treatment from ADK.
