President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih declared that four suspected of the May 6 attack on former President and incumbent Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed are in the process of being charged.
During a press conference at the President's Office on Tuesday, the President claimed the investigation was running swiftly. Police are currently investigating eight suspects, and they have completed the investigation into four people. Police are now in the process of requesting the Prosecutor General's Office to charge the four suspects, said the President.
He further stated that police were investigating incidents surrounding the matter, and their searches were going smoothly. The intelligence audit upon President Solih's request is also in effect.
Appropriate measures will be taken to strengthen the department once the intelligence audit report is compiled and submitted, he assured.
The President divulged that upon completion of the report from the parliament inquiry, the report will be discussed and necessary amendments will be made.
