The Restaurant Association of Maldives (RAM) has decided to protest, claiming the government is not working to find a solution for the difficulties faced by establishments such as restaurants and cafés.
President of the association Hamid Afeef informed Avas News that the concerns of members in the industry were taken up with the government authorities. However, they received no aid.
As the government was unable to provide a feasible solution, the NGO has planned a peaceful protest on Monday at 4 pm.
The slogan for the protest is "Don't Bite the Hand that Feeds You", said the association.
Due to COVID-19 safety measures, services provided by restaurants, cafés, and hotels were reduced to takeaways and deliveries only, causing many businesses to face losses.
The notion to compensate for the business' losses received no support in parliament.
