Former President and incumbent Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed declared he will live the rest of his life with a dull middle finger.
The statement was made during an event launching a club for Maldives Democratic Party (MDP) on Clubhouse, in honor of their 16th anniversary.
The former president claimed his overall health as well, and doctors confirmed his internal organs were healthy.
"My lungs are good. My stomach is good. The liver is good. Most of my organs are fine", said Nasheed.
However, he revealed he had minor issues with organs such as his finger, ear, and foot. He mentioned the loss of feeling in three fingers on his right hand.
The affected fingers were his thumb, forefinger, and middle finger. Doctors informed former President Nasheed that additional surgeries would be required to restore the damages to his middle finger, but he decided to live the rest of his life with an unusable middle finger.
Speaker Nasheed divulged that most of his left side was still numb.
According to the former president, he wishes to return to Maldives in good health.
After the attack on May 6, President Nasheed traveled to Germany for further treatment. His family confirmed that the majority of his injuries had healed.
