Former Party President of Maldives Democratic Party (MDP) Ibrahim Ismail (Ibra) declared that Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed was running parliament beyond its legal limits.
Speaking to Avas News, Ibra stated that people were often summoned to court to discuss some financial issue. He claimed the members involved were those who did not receive their share.
According to Ibra, MDP had fulfilled only 20 percent of the promises they made to the public. He believes the government is taking no action to establish political party's plans on a national level.
The former Party President also stated that although those who criticize the government and MDP are not punished or thrown in jail, their lives are majorly inconvenienced.
He stressed that if things remain as they are, MDP would grow to become a threat to the nation. He added that an MDP-affiliated leader and majority parliament is interfering with the government's work under the guise of holding them accountable.
