Police Summons Sheikh Mujuthaba

Jamiyyath Salaf Coordinator Sheikh Mujuthaba Hameed has been summoned to police administration.

Sheikh Mujuthaba confirmed the summons in a tweet but did not specify the reason.

Although the purpose of his citation was not shared, the government’s proposed bill to criminalize hate has become a cause for concern among Salaf scholars.

101 scholars signed a petition to retract the bill and presented it to former President and incumbent Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed. Mujuthaba was among those who signed the petition.
