Former President and incumbent Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed refused to undergo aesthetic procedures to remove scars from serious injuries he obtained from the May 6 attack.
The former president’s brother Dr. Ibrahim Nasheed tweeted that apart from the wounds on his foot, all of Nasheed’s injuries have healed. His doctor is also said to have been happy enough with his progress to cancel a routine endoscopy.
President Nasheed was treated initially treated in the Maldives. However, in May, he flew to Germany for further treatment. Recently, he underwent two surgeries for the injury in his foot.
Police remanded five suspects in relation to the attack, which they stated were linked to extremism. After the attack, police have taken such incidents more seriously.
