Former Vice President and acclaimed legal practitioner Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed declared that the peace of the nation has been disoriented, and the Maldives has become a failed state.
In a tweet addressing the recovery of the body of a kidnapped and murdered 13-year-old, Dr. Jameel stated that such crimes have increased, and investigative courts have been acting irresponsibly.
“Another devastating death. The national criminal justice system has failed numerous victims of murder”, he tweeted.
Sources report the body of the abducted and murdered 13-year-old was found in a suitcase discarded in the waters near Hulhumale’ Phase 2. The body was found during the police investigation that was launched on Sunday.
Police made two arrests in relation to the murder. The suspects, 17-year-old and 27-year-old Maldivian males, are said to have had a close relationship with the victim.
