Maldives Correctional Services has stated that they haven't decided to transfer President Yameen to house arrest.
Former President Yaameen’s wife, Fathmath Didi has requested via writing to authorities and President Solih to facilitate President Yameen’s transfer to house arrest this Ramadan.
Answering a question posed by Avas News, Commissioner of Prisons Ahmed Mohamed Fulhu stated that Corrections had received a letter from Madam Fathun regarding President Yameen’s transfer and that he is seeking to advise regarding this matter to make it possible.
The Commissioner further stated that Corrections will be following the law and guidelines regarding prisoner transfer accordingly to carry out President Yameen’s transfer.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih stated in a press conference that he had also received a letter from Madam Fathun and is acting accordingly.
The opposition had previously carried out discussions regarding President Yameen’s transfer to house arrest with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
