Trips to constituencies taken by their representative members be considered official trips from now on, the Public Committee of People’s Majlis has passed today.
Speaker of Majlis Mohamed Nasheedh announced this during the opening address of the People’s Majlis today.
He stated that this change was brought about in precedence to Section 240 of the Parliament Act and that all members must request for travel through writing to People’s Majlis Secretariat and that this travel must commence only after approval.
He further noted that this will be noted in their attendance as ‘Official Travel’ and that all members have the choice to join committee meetings online that they may potentially miss while they are away.
