Beds and Mattresses Provided to All Government Wards: Ministry

Ministry for Gender, Family and Social Services has stated that all wards under government care in establishments around Maldives have been provided with beds and mattresses to sleep on.

In regards to a report published by Dhiyares News regarding the case of a ward sleeping on the floor on a rag in GDH. Thinadhoo at Amaanveshi, a media official posed a question to the Ministry's media officer whom then responded stating that the matter will be investigated.

Including Thinadhoo, Amaanveshi has been established in 3 other islands. There is an Amaanveshi in HA. Dhidhoo, Sh. Funadhoo, B. Eydhafushi and Fuvahmulah City.

As the number of wards to each Amaanveshi is limited, the Minister stated that this would be a step to recognizing and treating each child's specific needs as proficiently as possible.

Dhiyares News has not been able to get a comment from the Ministry for Gender, Family and Social Services regarding this matter.
