President of the Anti-Corruption Commission Mariyam Shiuna has stated that threatening removal from position every time there is some disagreement regarding a decision made by ACC obstructs the freedom to investigate and perform. She further stated that each and every ACC investigation will not yield a positive or expected result.
She said in the short time of her run in ACC that regarding the outcome of this case that there have been speculation of taking a no-confidence vote against ACC members.
She further stated that it is admissible to have a difference of opinion with ACC members but it is not acceptable to try to remove them from their position every time such a difference comes up and that it obstructs their independence to investigate freely.
She stated this in regards to the MDP Parliamentary Group discussing the no-confidence motion, however the motion did not pass and the PG group decided in favor of ACC members remaining in their position. Speaker of Parliament who advocated the loudest for this did not attend the PG group meeting.
