The Housing Development Corporation has said that 280 housing units were missing from the planned 7,000 units as a result of a decision made by the Solih administration.
Ahmed Shuhail, the MD of the HDC said this during a meeting of the Majlis Committee on National Development And Heritage. He said that the previous administration had decided to use half of the ground floor of each of the towers for commercial purposes.
He said that this government had deemed the commercial area as insufficient to cater to the area’s projected population, and therefore decided to increase the number of units leased on commercial terms. He said that the previous administration had decided on leasing 140 units commercially. He said that after this administration had increased the number of commercial flats: the number rose to 280.
During today’s meeting, Housing Minister Aslam claimed that 9,000 people had been assigned “non-existent” flats by the previous administration.
However, it is worth noting that the construction 2,500 of the assigned flats was already underway. The flats were being constructed by SinoHydro.
