Capt. Ihusan Calls on Ruling Party Parliamentarians to Stop Undermining the Military

Capt (Retd.) Ali Ihusan have called on Majlis members to "stop undermining" the Police and the Military.
Capt. Ihusan said this in a statement he released on Twitter. MP Ahmed Shiyam (Naifaru) had submitted a motion to the Majlis floor calling for the full disclosure of the Uthuru Thila Falhu agreement. In the debate that ensued, MDP parliamentarians had described the Maldivian armed forces as too incomptetent to deal with foreign threats. They argued that this is why the country needed India's "help".
Capt Ihusan apparently responded to the degrading language used by parliamentarians with regard to the armed forces. He said that if parliamentarians were ignorant of matters, they should summon MNDF personnel to the Majlis and question them.

He called on the Majlis parliamentarians to do their duty without interfering with the duty of others.

The Maldivian government has signed an agreement with India about the development of a dockyard and harbour at Uthuru Thila Falhu. The text of the agreement permits a permanent stationing of Indian military personnel in that location.
