The Health Protection Agency has lifted its restrictions on cinemas that it had placed in response to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Cinemas had been ordered closed on 16 March 2020. The HPA’s announcement today permitted, as of 25 January 2021, the use and operation of cinemas and film theatres as long as health guidelines were followed.
Many of the HPA’s initial restrictions have now been lightened. This loosening of restrictions has lead to an increased spread of COVID-19 in the country. There are more than 1,000 active cases in the Maldives.
