The Maldivian passport has defended its title as the strongest passport in South Asia.
According to the Henley Passport Index, which ranks passports by their ability to enter countries without applying for a visa beforehand, the Maldivian passport ranked highest in the South Asian region.
In the previous year, the Maldivian passport had ranked 61st in the Index, falling to 62nd place this year.
The Maldivian passport can enter 85 countries without a visa, surpassing the abilities of a Chinese or a Saudi passport.
The Indian passport ranks lower, at 85th place.
The strongest passport on the Index is the Japanese passport, which allows the bearer to enter 191 countries.
