Airplanes parked at Velana International Airport.
A record number of aircraft have landed at Velana International Airport (VIA) last Sunday.
According to Maldives Airports Company, Limited (MACL) last Sunday the airport recorded the largest number of air traffic movements since the border reopening. The company also stated that 578 air traffic movements were recorded in VIA last Sunday. In addition, MACL stated that 5,845 international arrivals were recorded yesterday.
Previously the highest number of tourist arrivals were recorded on 12th December. However, Sunday’s arrivals topped the county by 39 percent according to MACL.
After border reopening, the largest number of tourist arrivals was also recorded on Sunday with 5,674 arrivals.
