MIRA Revises Integration Deadlines for Maldives Green Information System

The Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has announced revised compliance deadlines for Green Tax registrants integrating with the Maldives Green Information System (MGIS).
The MGIS platform went live on October 1 to strengthen the collection, monitoring, and administration of Green Tax across tourism establishments, initially allowing voluntary onboarding for registered properties.
Under the updated implementation schedule issued by MIRA, mandatory rollout will proceed across two distinct batches:
- Batch 1 (Tourist resorts, hotels, and guesthouses with over 50 rooms): The taxable period commences on November 1, 2026, with data uploads due by December 15, 2026. Full system integration must be completed by April 1, 2027.
- Batch 2 (All remaining Green Tax registered properties): The taxable period begins on January 1, 2027, followed by an information upload deadline of February 15, 2027. Entities in this group have until July 1, 2027, to complete full system integration.
MIRA stated that the schedule was revised to provide tourism operators sufficient time to adapt their systems, integrate seamlessly with the MGIS platform, and maintain smooth compliance. The tax authority urged all registered businesses to review their respective deadlines and complete each procedural step within the designated timeframe.
