Former shareholder of Hanbo Company Private Limited, Hassan Mamdhooh, has been taken into police custody to ensure his appearance before court for sentencing in the high-profile K-Park Residences fraud case.
Mamdhooh was detained after he failed to attend a scheduled sentencing hearing at the Criminal Court on Thursday. He had submitted a written request for postponement without appearing in person, but the presiding judge rejected the deferral and rescheduled the hearing for 2:00 pm on Saturday, 27 December 2025, while ordering his remand until then.
Police confirmed that Mamdhooh is now in custody and will be produced before the Criminal Court at the appointed time.
The defendant faces 105 charges of fraud and deception related to the sale of apartments at K-Park Residences, where he is accused of unlawfully selling flats at inflated prices through deceptive means.
The proceedings represent one of the largest fraud cases involving a private housing development project in the Maldives.
