Financial Assistance for Maldivian Artists to Roll Out Next Month

Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts Minister Ibrahim Waheed (Aswad) has announced that financial assistance for Maldivian artists will begin next month, marking a significant step in supporting the country’s creative industry.

Speaking at the *Ahaa* public forum last night, Minister Aswad described the initiative as a key policy decision of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s administration. He confirmed that the necessary guidelines for disbursing assistance have already been established.

“The ministry has decided to provide assistance through a dedicated portal. Development of the portal is ongoing, and we need to resolve technical issues and conduct testing before its launch,” Aswad said.

In addition, the Minister revealed ongoing work on a production house for artists, contracted to BCC, which is expected to be completed later this year. This facility will provide artists access to professional spaces for their creative work.

The program aims to strengthen support systems for artists and empower them to contribute more effectively to the Maldivian cultural landscape.
