The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) has announced an open call for bids to lease a new office building, following the worsening condition of their current premises.
According to the public announcement, interested parties who meet the requirements are invited to submit sealed bids. The bid opening is scheduled for 10:30 AM on May 27 at the current ICO building, G. Billoorijehige.
Bids submitted after the deadline will not be accepted. Envelopes must be clearly labeled with the bid name, announcement number, opening date and time, and the bidder’s name. Inquiries regarding the bid can be emailed to
[email protected] before 1:30 PM on Thursday.
The announcement comes a day after the ICO officially moved its operations online due to the deteriorating state of its current building. The office has operated from G. Billoorijehige since 2015, but last year’s annual report flagged serious issues including poor bathroom and pantry conditions, water leakage, and mold, making the workspace unsuitable and requiring a split-shift work arrangement.
In October 2024, the Finance Ministry authorized the ICO to lease a new building. However, since the bidding process exceeded MVR 7.6 million, it was forwarded to the Ministry on November 19, 2024, for further evaluation. Despite expectations that the Tender Board would issue a public bid notice, no such announcement had been made as of the latest report.
