The State Electric Company (STELCO) has reported a notable increase in electricity consumption in Malé and Hulhumalé, as weather conditions improve.
In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), STELCO confirmed that, for the first time this Ramadan, electricity demand has exceeded 92 megawatts. The company expects consumption to rise further in the coming days.
Given the higher household electricity usage during Ramadan, STELCO has urged consumers to practice energy conservation and use electrical appliances as efficiently as possible.
Meanwhile, the government has announced a 10 percent discount on electricity bills during Ramadan, continuing a policy introduced last year to ease financial burdens on households.
