President Muizzu Appoints Abdul Haseeb Ismail to the Elections Commission

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has officially appointed Abdul Haseeb Ismail of Hulhumalé Hiyaa, 11-23-05, as a member of the Elections Commission. The appointment was made in accordance with Article 167(a) and Article 168(b) of the Constitution, as well as Article 4(a) of Law No. 8/2008 (Elections Commission Act), which outline the framework for establishing and appointing members to the commission.
The appointment ceremony was held this morning at the President’s Office, where President Muizzu presented the official letter of appointment to Abdul Haseeb Ismail. Prior to receiving the letter, Abdul Haseeb took the oath of office in the presence of the President.
The oath was administered by Honourable Dr. Azmiralda Zahir, Justice of the Supreme Court of the Maldives, ensuring the constitutional and legal formalities of the appointment were fulfilled.
This marks an important step in strengthening the Elections Commission, a key independent body responsible for overseeing the electoral process in the Maldives. Abdul Haseeb Ismail’s appointment reflects the administration’s commitment to upholding the democratic framework and ensuring the integrity of electoral processes.
