Japanese Government Enhances ACC Capacity with ¥300M Grant

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has signed an Exchange of Notes with the Japanese government to enhance the mobility and operational capacity of the Maldives' Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The agreement, signed by Foreign Minister Dr. Abdulla Khaleel on behalf of the Maldivian government and Ambassador Takeuchi Midori for Japan, will see the Japanese government providing grant aid of 300 million Japanese Yen (approximately USD 2.158 million) under its Economic and Social Development Program.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Minister Khaleel emphasized the project’s critical role in bolstering the Maldives’ efforts to combat corruption and ensure transparency and accountability in governance. He also expressed deep gratitude for Japan’s ongoing support in strengthening Maldivian institutions, highlighting the enduring partnership between the two nations.
The President of the ACC, Adam Shamil, joined the event alongside senior officials from the Foreign Ministry, Ministry of Finance, and the Japanese Embassy. This collaboration marks another milestone in Japan’s continued contributions to the Maldives’ development and institutional growth.
