STO Prepares for Ramadan 2025, Focusing on Price Control and Essential Supplies

The State Trading Organization (STO) has already commenced its preparations for the upcoming Ramadan, which will begin in February 2025, with a focus on increasing stock levels of essential foods and controlling the prices of key commodities.

Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Mohamed Saeed, met with STO officials to review the plans for the holy month. Discussions during the meeting focused on maintaining stable prices for staple goods and ensuring the uninterrupted supply of necessities. The Economic Ministry confirmed that these preparations align with President Dr Mohamed Muizzu's pledges to reduce the cost of consumables during Ramadan.

Last year, the government distributed staple food items to households and offered utility bill discounts. President Muizzu has confirmed that the utility discounts will be available again this year, but the distribution will shift from staple foods to a carton of canned tuna for each household. These initiatives are part of the government's ongoing efforts to ease the financial burden on citizens during Ramadan.
