President Muizzu Reopens Renovated Centre for Higher Secondary Education in Malé

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has officially reopened the Centre for Higher Secondary Education in Malé (CHSE-Malé) after a significant renovation effort. The reopening ceremony was attended by key officials, educators, and invited guests, underscoring the importance of the institution to the Maldivian education landscape.
The event was marked by a symbolic memento presented to President Muizzu, recognizing CHSE-Malé’s enduring legacy since its establishment in 1979 as the Science Education Centre (SEC). The President joined a discussion forum with five CHSE students who expressed their ambitions and shared their visions for the future, highlighting their collective hopes for the nation’s growth.
Last year, during CHSE’s 45th anniversary, President Muizzu pledged to prioritize higher secondary education opportunities within Malé. His commitment to expanding academic access has been realized with the reopening of CHSE-Malé, fulfilling a promise to enhance educational opportunities and alleviate challenges faced by students who previously commuted between Malé and Hulhumalé.
Dr. Ismail Shafeeu, Minister of Education, expressed gratitude towards President Muizzu’s efforts, emphasizing the government’s dedication to educational growth. He cited the goal to increase A-Level candidates at CHSE-Malé, aiming for an enrollment of 2,000 students. The institution, currently welcoming 424 students, continues to serve as a cornerstone in the academic journey of Maldivian students.
CHSE-Malé’s reopening marks a new era of opportunity for young Maldivians, with a renewed focus on access to quality education and a brighter academic future.
