The Maldives Meteorological Service has issued multiple weather alerts as adverse weather conditions are forecasted across several atolls today, October 11.
A Yellow Alert has been declared for the area extending from Raa Atoll to Vaavu Atoll, with strong winds ranging from 28 to 35 mph and gusts reaching up to 55 mph. These conditions are expected to prevail from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Residents and seafarers in these regions are advised to exercise caution due to the anticipated very rough seas.
In addition, a White Alert has been issued for the area from Haa Alifu Atoll to Laamu Atoll, effective from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM. This alert warns of heavy rain and thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds of 19 to 24 mph and gusts of up to 45 mph, leading to rough seas.
Since the beginning of this week, the Maldives has experienced persistent rainy and turbulent weather, with forecasts from the National Meteorological Center indicating that these conditions will continue until next Monday.
