Islamic Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed announced that the Maldives will host its inaugural Hajj and Umrah conference later this month. The event, scheduled for October 31, will bring together service providers responsible for facilitating Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages. The objective of the conference is to enhance and streamline the process of carrying Maldivian pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for these religious obligations.
In a post on 'X' (formerly Twitter), Minister Shaheem emphasized that this first-of-its-kind conference will focus on improving coordination and efficiency in delivering pilgrimage services, which are crucial for the thousands of Maldivians who perform Hajj and Umrah each year.
The Islamic Ministry has a history of organizing various seminars related to religious work, including the Seminar of Scholars, the Jamia Seminar, and the Seminar of Imams, which have focused on different aspects of Islamic knowledge and practices. However, this will be the first conference specifically dedicated to Hajj and Umrah service providers, signifying the government's commitment to better managing the growing demand for pilgrimage services.
