Fenaka Corporation Opens Bidding for 39 Generators to Ensure Uninterrupted Power Supply Across Islands

Fenaka Corporation, the state-owned utility provider, has announced a bidding process for the procurement of 39 generator sets to ensure consistent power supply across the Maldives. The corporation aims to purchase generators with capacities between 250 kW and 1,600 kW, as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen the electricity infrastructure on the islands.
In a series of announcements, Fenaka detailed the specifications for the generator sets, which include seven 250 kW sets, six 400 kW sets, eight 600 kW sets, five 800 kW sets, six 1,000 kW sets, five 1,200 kW sets, and two 1,600 kW sets. This procurement is crucial for ensuring uninterrupted electricity in remote islands, where power shortages have been a recurring issue.
Both local and international suppliers are eligible to participate in the bidding process. According to the notification, interested parties are required to submit bid security ranging between $3,000 and $5,000. Bid security must be submitted either as an original bank guarantee letter, a bank-guaranteed cheque, or an insurance policy from a company registered with the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA). The final bid security documentation must be submitted to Fenaka within seven official days of submitting the estimates.
The notification further outlines that bid security must be in the name of the company submitting the proposal, and the security should be valid for at least 20 days beyond the bid cancellation period. The estimate cancellation period itself should be no less than 60 days.
Registration for interested parties will be open from October 7 to 14, with the final bid estimates being opened on October 15 and 16. Only registered bidders will be eligible to submit their proposals, and any estimates submitted after the specified deadline will not be accepted. Additionally, Fenaka reserves the right to cancel any estimates at its discretion.
