Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed has acknowledged that while opportunities for Maldivian youth may be limited, there are no barriers to their growth and development. Speaking at the launch of the Creative Economy Fund and Five-Year Strategy, Saeed reiterated the government's commitment to building a skilled economy in the Maldives.
The minister also pointed to discussions under the recently signed Trade and Investment Framework Agreement with the United States, emphasizing the potential for cross-border transactions. He highlighted the growing interest of young Maldivians in online business ventures, and the government's efforts to facilitate financial services through platforms like YouTube, Google, and PayPal.
Although the country's market is not large enough to support extensive e-commerce platforms, Saeed remains optimistic about future growth. "The number of opportunities for local youth may be limited. However, the space we can grow in will increase significantly. I do not believe there is a limit to that," Saeed stated.
The government aims to provide financial support for youth-led businesses as part of its larger strategy to nurture the creative economy.
