Funds Allocated for Thalassemia Hospital in Hulhumale', Announces President Muizzu

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has confirmed that the funds for a dedicated Thalassemia Hospital in Hulhumale' have been allocated, as part of his commitment to improving healthcare services in the Maldives. Speaking at the Independence Day celebrations, President Muizzu reiterated his promise to establish a hospital in Hulhumale' that will provide comprehensive services for thalassemia patients.
"The Thalassemia Hospital will be fully equipped with all necessary treatments for thalassemia, including accommodation facilities and other essential services," President Muizzu stated. He emphasized that this full-fledged hospital will be built to offer complete care for individuals affected by thalassemia.
The land for the Thalassemia Hospital has been allocated from the second phase of Hulhumale', with the Housing Development Corporation designating 72,000 square feet for the project. Additionally, Ooredoo has pledged RF 100 million to support the construction of the hospital, underscoring the collaboration between the government and private sector in enhancing healthcare infrastructure.
In his address, President Muizzu also mentioned ongoing efforts to fundraise for the construction of a specialized hospital for children and pregnant women, promising that arrangements will be made soon to bring this project to fruition.
This initiative marks a significant step forward in the Maldives' healthcare sector, aiming to provide specialized and comprehensive care for thalassemia patients, a group that requires dedicated and continuous medical attention. The President's announcement reflects his administration's commitment to addressing critical health issues and improving the quality of life for all Maldivians.
