In a ceremony last evening where the President's Special Scholarship and High Achievers Scholarship letters were handed over, Minister for Higher Education, Labour, and Skill Development Dr. Mariam Mariya emphasized the importance of maintaining Islamic values for Maldivian students studying abroad.
Minister Mariya addressed the audience, reminding them that regardless of the country they study in, every Maldivian child is a full-fledged Muslim and an ambassador of their homeland. She urged students to abide by the traditions of the Holy Quran and to keep in mind their Islamic identity while studying in foreign countries.
"The paramount consideration for all of you, regardless of the country in which you pursue your studies, is to remember that every one of you is a full-fledged Muslim individual. This cherished nation is calling upon your services at a higher level," stated Minister Mariya.
She further highlighted that studying abroad is not just an opportunity to learn but also a journey to immerse oneself in different cultures and to gain diverse experiences. Minister Mariya stressed that students should see this as a way to progress while maintaining their cultural and religious integrity.
During the same event, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu spoke about his efforts to make Maldivian youth educated and capable, emphasizing the importance of providing employment opportunities for students upon their return. President Muizzu has been dedicated to ensuring that the Maldivian education system prepares students to contribute effectively to the country's development.
Minister Mariya reiterated that President Muizzu is paying special attention to employment opportunities for graduates, aiming to integrate them into the workforce seamlessly. This focus on education and employment underscores the government's commitment to nurturing a skilled and capable youth population.
The event underscored the Maldivian government's dedication to fostering educational excellence while maintaining cultural and religious values, aiming to prepare students for both personal and national development.
