PNC and MDP Compete for Three Vacant Seats in Malé City Council

The ruling Progressive National Congress (PNC) and the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) are set to contest the three vacant seats in the Malé City Council. The by-elections for the Machangolhi Central, Henveiru West, and Villingili constituencies are scheduled for the 20th of next month.
In the Machangolhi Central constituency, Fathima Ishan Ali will represent the PNC, while Hawwa Shifana will run for the MDP. For the Henveiru West constituency, Fatima Shaufa is the candidate from the PNC, with Mohammed Ali Jinad representing the MDP. In the Villingili constituency, Ali Ayman will contest for the PNC, facing Ahmed Rashid (Thithi) from the MDP.
These by-elections are critical for both parties as they seek to secure influence in the Malé City Council. The elections will determine the representatives for these three constituencies and are expected to be closely contested.
The Malé City Council by-elections will take place across the Machangolhi Central, Henveiru West, and Villingili constituencies, providing an opportunity for both the PNC and MDP to bolster their presence in the city council.
