The Parliament has nominated Ibrahim Shujau as a member of the Clemency Board. This decision was made during the third session of the 20th Parliament, held today, where nominating a member to the Clemency Board was part of the agenda.
Ibrahim Falah, MP from the Inguraidhoo constituency, filed Shujau's nomination papers. Villimale' MP Mohamed Ismail supported the proposal, which was the only name recommended for the Clemency Board. The nomination process reflects a significant step in ensuring that the board, which operates under the Attorney General's Office, continues to function with integrity and efficiency.
The Parliament will vote later today to seek the support of its members to approve Ibrahim Shujau's nomination. The outcome of this vote will determine if Shujau will officially join the Clemency Board, contributing to decisions regarding pardons and clemency within the legal framework of the Maldives.
