President Muizzu Meets with Vice President of the European Investment Bank to Strengthen Cooperation

President H.E. Dr. Mohamed Muizzu held a meeting today with Mr. Ambroise Fayolle, Vice President of the European Investment Bank (EIB). The discussion took place on the sidelines of the Fourth International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS4) in Antigua and Barbuda.
During the meeting, President Dr. Muizzu expressed his appreciation for the EIB's ongoing support and reaffirmed his administration's commitment to strengthening the partnership that has developed over the past few decades. The President highlighted the importance of this relationship in addressing the unique challenges faced by the Maldives.
President Dr. Muizzu discussed potential areas for enhanced cooperation, focusing on funding climate-resilient infrastructure projects. These include the construction of seawalls, shore protection measures, water management systems, and renewable energy initiatives. Such projects are crucial for mitigating the adverse effects of climate change on the Maldives.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on renewable energy, climate mitigation, and adaptation strategies. Both leaders expressed their commitment to exploring innovative solutions to foster sustainable development in the Maldives and other Small Island Developing States.
